Looking a little like some sort of child-proof pill container, the Caparo Rightfuel is heralded as the solution to eliminating misfuelling of diesel cars which is reckoned to cause misery for upto 400 diesel car drivers a day.
Invented by a retired naval Commander (and, yes he was one who at some time misfuelled his BMW) and being helped to commercial success by the Caparo Innovation Centre, the Rightfuel is set to hit the retail market next month.
The Rightfuel is described as a retro-fit device, which is fitted to the top of the fuel filler neck to replace the filler cap, and is designed to completely prevent the delivery of the wrong type of fuel.Moulded in corrosion-free,tough engineering plasics,it has been rigorously developed and validated over eighteen months at the Caparo Innovation Centre managed by Wolverhampton University. Chief Executive,Angad Paul, says,”When we back something,we have done our research and we know it is going to work.”
Amateur inventor, and ex-naval officer,Martin White has teamed up with Caparo which is a specialist consultancy used to providing innovative technologies, including fuel filler and braking systems for road-cars and military vehicles.
The Rightfuel is a low solution to a multi-million pound a year headache for diesel drivers. It should be well received. And if you have a rival product it must be a good idea. It should draw the fire of TV’s Dragons ,Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis, who recently agreed to back a private investor who brought with him into the Dragons’ Den a product to do a similar job as the Righfuel, that is prevent drivers from trashing their engines by pumping the wrong type of fuel. Caparo claims its Rightfuel as the only retrofit product on the market which completely blocks the delivery of the wrong type of fuel.
We will watch these products with interest ,and review at a later date.
